Nieuw project in Curaçao / New project in Curaçao.

Het Bestuur van ABWF heeft op 15 mei 2023 haar goedkeuring gegeven om aan de slag te gaan bij het Gezinsvervangend Thuis "SILOAM"!!

Hulp aan het "Gezinsvervangend Thuis Siloam" te Curaçao is in onderzoek!
ZODRA het BESTUUR dit project goedkeurt, gaan wij aan de slag!

2017

Het jaar 2017 belooft voor ABWF een pittige en emotionele uitdaging te worden.
Met toestemming van het voltallig Bestuur is tijdens de jaarvergadering van 1 februari 2017, akkoord gegaan met het verzoek, het werkterrein van ABWF uit te breiden naar Indonesië.
Dit heeft er alles mee te maken met het feit dat de secretaris van ABWF, Duncan Junker, na een lange en moeizame zoektocht in zijn geboorteland Indonesië, zijn broer na 68 jaar terug heeft gevonden! Als gevolg van adoptie hadden zij elkaar nog NOOIT gezien of aangeraakt!
Logisch gevolg is dat de broers elkaar een keer in de armen willen sluiten en zo spoedig mogelijk. Hieraan gekoppeld heeft het Bestuur besloten, tegelijkertijd een paar projecten in Indonesië die aansluiten op de doelstelling van ABWF, onder de loep te nemen.

Deze privé reis van 2017 heeft een tweeledig resultaat behaald: de broers hebben elkaar in levende lijve ontmoet en wij hebben twee mooie projecten gevonden die nauw aansluiten aan de doelstellingen van ABWF.

This private trip in 2017 had a twofold result: the brothers met in person and we found two beautiful projects that closely match the objectives of ABWF.

The year 2017 promises to be a tough and emotional challenge for ABWF.
With the permission of the full Board, the annual meeting of February 1, 2017 agreed to the request to expand ABWF's field of activity to Indonesia.
This has everything to do with the fact that the secretary of ABWF, Duncan Junker, after a long and difficult search in his native Indonesia, has found his brother after 68 years! As a result of adoption, they had NEVER seen or touched each other!
The logical consequence is that the brothers want to embrace each other one day and as soon as possible. Linked to this, the Board has decided to simultaneously examine a few projects in Indonesia that are in line with ABWF's objectives.
This private trip in 2017 had a twofold result: the brothers met in person and we found two beautiful projects that closely match the objectives of ABWF.

2016

Door de economische en politieke omstandigheden zijn er in 2016 geen geschikte potentiële projecten gevonden in de Rep. Suriname die aansluiten
op de doelstellingen van de stichting.

Due to the economic and political circumstances, no suitable potential projects were found in the Rep. in 2016. Suriname that connecton the
objectives of the foundation.

2015

Tijdens de jaarvergadering van 5 februari 2015 heeft het Bestuur unaniem besloten om de S.O.G.K (Stichting Ontspanningsoord Gehandicapte Kinderen) in de Rep. Suriname te Geyersvlijt, te helpen. De S.O.G.K. bestaat reeds vanaf 15 februari 1985 en zet zich in voor het welzijn van jongeren met een beperking. De jongelingen die dagelijks worden opgevangen worden onderricht in zelfredzaamheids-trainingen op het gebied van educatie-, ambachtelijke- en sportvorming.
De S.O.G.K. beschikt op dit moment niet over 24-uurs opvangmogelijkheden voor de pupillen die het dagverblijf bezoeken.

Na diverse onderhandelingen met sponsoren en partijen, zijn er 2,1 woningen gerealiseerd op het terrein van de stichting!

De woningen zullen onderdak bieden aan jonge volwassenen die bij de S.O.G.K in training zijn en nu zelfstandig gaan wonen. Deze pupillen zijn ook arbeiders in het oord en doen ook aan sport!
Een van deze bewoners is een internationale Paralympisch atleet en heeft reeds aan verschillende internationale wedstrijden deel genomen. In augustus 2015 zal hij meedoen aan de wedstrijden in Toronto. Aansluitend zal hij deelnemen aan de wedstrijden in Brazilië, samen met andere Surinaamse sporters met een lichamelijke beperking!!
Deze stichting, S.O.G.K. is momenteel ook bezig met de voorbereidingen voor afvaardiging van een aantal sporters met een verstandelijke beperking, naar de wedstrijden in Los Angeles - USA in juli 2015!

Om dit alles mogelijk te maken, moeten 2 woningen volledig ingericht worden zodat de pupillen op het complex kunnen wonen, hun trainingen kunnen volgen en arbeid kunnen verrichten op het complex.
De stichting is volledig afhankelijk van donaties en giften.

Redenen voor A Better World Foundation om met ons allen deze 2.1 woningen helemaal in te richten. Voor deze actie hebben wij € 7200,= nodig.

Indien wij meer geld ophalen, willen wij ook weer de 320 bejaarde bewoners van huize Ashiana trakteren op authentieke surinaamse gerechten!! De planning is om eind april 2015 het S.O.G.K. - project te realiseren!
Maar, lieve mensen, willen jullie ons helpen, dit mooie project gezamenlijk voor elkaar te krijgen? Dat zou waanzinnig zijn!

During the annual meeting of February 5, 2015, the Board unanimously decided to help the S.O.G.K (Stichting Relaxation Center for Handicapped Children) in the Republic of Suriname in Geyersvlijt. The S.O.G.K. has existed since February 15, 1985 and is committed to the well-being of young people with disabilities. The young people who are cared for every day are instructed in self-reliance training in the field of education, craft and sports training.
The S.O.G.K. does not currently have 24-hour care options for pupils who visit the day care center.

After various negotiations with sponsors and parties, 2.1 homes have been built on the foundation's grounds!

The homes will provide shelter for young adults who are in training at the S.O.G.K and who will now live independently. These pupils are also workers in the resort and also participate in sports!
One of these residents is an international Paralympic athlete and has already participated in several international competitions. In August 2015 he will compete in the competitions in Toronto. He will then participate in the competitions in Brazil, together with other Surinamese athletes with a physical disability!!
This foundation, S.O.G.K. is currently also preparing to send a number of athletes with intellectual disabilities to the competitions in Los Angeles-USA in July 2015!

To make all this possible, these 2 homes must be fully furnished so that the pupils can live on the complex, follow their training and do work on the complex.
The foundation is completely dependent on donations and gifts.

Reasons for A Better World Foundation to work together to fully furnish these 2.1 homes. We need €7200 for this promotion.

If we raise more money, we would also like to treat the 320 elderly residents of the Ashiana home to authentic Surinamese dishes!! The plan is to realize this project at the end of April 2015!
But, dear people, would you like to help us realize this beautiful project together? That would be crazy!

Zodra het Bestuur akkoord gaat, gaan wij van start!!

As soon as the Board approves, we will start!!

2013

In het jaar 2012 is mijn moeder op 19 juli overleden op de gezegende leeftijd van 96 jaar. Kort daarna, zeer plotseling, is mijn lieve zus Hedie Werners - Görlitz op 29 november 2012 onze moeder achterna gegaan.

In 2013 heb ik getracht dit alles een plaatsje te geven maar het plotselinge overlijden van mijn zus, op 64 jarige leeftijd heeft er bij mij zwaar ingehakt. Redenen waarom ik niet in staat was iets voor onze medemens te kunnen betekenen.

In 2014 heb ik alle verdriet, vertwijfeling en boosheid om het overlijden van mijn zus Hedie, verwerkt en een plaatsje gegeven. ABWF heeft een leuk project dat nauw aansluit op haar doelstellingen, in het vizier. Het S.O.G.K.

Ik heb mijzelf beloofd om in het jaar 2015 mij weer volledig in te zetten voor onze medemensen, die de hulp van A Better World Foundation, hard nodig hebben.

In the year 2012, my mother passed away on July 19 at the blessed age of 96. Shortly afterwards, very suddenly, my dear sister Hedie Werners - Görlitz followed our mother on November 29, 2012.

In 2013 I tried to give all of this a place, but the sudden death of my sister at the age of 64 had a heavy impact on me. Reasons why I was unable to do anything for our fellow man.

In 2014 I processed and gave a place to all the sadness, despair and anger about the death of my sister Hedie. ABWF has a nice project in its sights that closely matches its objectives. The S.O.G.K.

I have promised myself that in 2015 I will once again fully dedicate myself to our fellow human beings who desperately need the help of A Better World Foundation.

2011

De Ramjanee School te Nickerie , Rep. Suriname.
Voor de Stichting Cheddy Maggo heb ik - op groot verzoek van de leerlingen zelf - samen met de heer Junker een 3e project op mogen zetten, te weten een kook-project waar de kinderen kooklessen voor surinaamse gerechten en gebak kunnen volgen en een diploma kunnen behalen. Zo kunnen ze voor diverse gelegenheden alle lekkernijen op bestellingen leveren en in hun eigen onderhoud voorzien.

For the Cheddy Maggo Foundation, I have - at the request of the students themselves - been able to set up a 3rd project together with Mr Junker, namely a cooking project where the children can take cooking lessons for Surinamese dishes and pastries and obtain a diploma. . This way they can deliver all delicacies to orders for various occasions and provide for their own maintenance.

2010

Voor de Ramjanee School te Nickerie heb ik een 2e project, een project tot modiste / coupeuse, mogen opzetten. Hier krijgen de kinderen op vrijwillige basis lessen in het vervaardigen van kleding. Van het tekenen van een grondpatroon tot het knippen en maken van de kleding. De lessen worden gegeven door een gediplomeerde coupeuse lerares. Er zijn ook voor 10 stuks nieuwe naaimachines gezorgd compleet met oefen materiaal, scharen en alles wat nodig is.
Hierbij hoort ook het behalen van een diploma, waardoor zij in een stukje eigen levensonderhoud kunnen voorzien.

I was able to set up a second project for the Ramjanee School in Nickerie, a project to become a milliner / dressmaker. Here the children receive lessons in making clothing on a voluntary basis. From drawing a basic pattern to cutting and making the clothing. The lessons are given by a certified tailoring teacher. 10 new sewing machines have also been provided, complete with practice material, scissors and everything necessary.
This also includes obtaining a diploma, which will enable them to provide some of their own livelihood.

2009

Bij de Ramjanee school te Nickerie heb ik voor de Stichting Cheddy Maggo een computer project mogen opzetten, samen met de heer Junker. De eind-examen kandidaten konden geen eind examen doen omdat er geen computers aanwezig waren en alleen digitaal het examen gemaakt kon worden. Gezien de achtergrond van de heer Junker was het voor de leerlingen en leraren een welkome oplossing omdat de heer Junker de basis-lessen heeft gegeven aan een deel van het personeel en een aantal leerlingen. Een zeer geslaagd project.

At the Ramjanee school in Nickerie I was able to set up a computer project for the Cheddy Maggo Foundation, together with Mr Junker. The final exam candidates could not take the final exam because there were no computers available and the exam could only be taken digitally. Given Mr. Junker's background, it was a welcome solution for the students and teachers because Mr. Junker provided basic lessons to some of the staff and a number of students. A very successful project.

2008

Van een bevriende relatie die eigenaar is van de Stichting Cheddy Maggo, heb ik het verzoek gekregen om na te gaan welke school in Nickerie in de Rep. Suriname in aanmerking zou kunnen komen voor hulp, steun en begeleiding.
Dit was een hele leuke opdracht en ik heb in 2008 alle scholen in Nickerie een bezoek gebracht en gesprekken gevoerd.
Als "winnaar" kwam de Ramjanee school uit de bus. Deze school werd op geen enkele manier gesubsidieerd of financieel ondersteund of zelfs begeleid. Wat de leraren zelf deden, om de school open te houden, was hart-verwarmend.
Uiteraard ging mijn voorkeur uit naar de Ramjanee school.
In 2009 zullen wij starten met de hulp!

Have been asked by a friendly relation who owns the Cheddy Maggo Foundation to find out which school in Nickerie in the Rep. Suriname could be eligible for help, support and guidance.
This was a very nice assignment and in 2008 I visited all the schools in Nickerie and had discussions.
The Ramjanee school emerged as the "winner". This school was not subsidized or financially supported or even supervised in any way. What the teachers themselves did to keep the school open was heart-warming.
Naturally, I preferred the Ramjanee school.
We will start helping in 2009!
